Went to the wake of the nanny who took care of me when I was just a baby. When she first welcomed me into her home, I was born 2 mths premature, small, like a baby kitten with translucent skin u can see all my innards (according to her daughter who told me last night funny tales that I don't recall of the past).I dun quite remember this nanny, only vague memories of running into her kitchen and watching her cook and having a few older kids fuss over me back then. And, my reluctance to leave her place whenever my mum comes to fetch me home during weekends. My nanny wasn't a maid. She was a neighbor in the kampong whom my granny n mum observed to be very adept at handling toddlers and babies and so i was entrusted to her care for 4 yrs. Apparently she took really good care of me, nursing me to become a healthy toddler. Her sister recalled that my nanny used cotton wool to wipe my delicate skin while bathing me for fear of tearing it.

我不属于那种非常乐观的人，而且遇到不开心的事总会令我措手不及。

好几次，在我失落、仰望天空寻找答案的时候，都会有道彩虹悬挂着。

黄、橙、红、绿、蓝、深蓝、紫。
这道由7个颜色组合成、看似‘天桥’的彩虹就象是在邀请你踏上它走向另一端的阳光。
走向雨后的阳光。

每一次都是这样，看到彩虹，顿时豁然开朗。

它的出现一直给我很大的力量。

现在天色已暗，不过我早就训练自己。即实在大白天或是在漆黑的夜晚，不管多累多气馁，闭上眼睛就能看见这到心中的彩虹。

因为雨过总会天晴。

I am not extremely optimistic and often I get taken by surprise when the going gets tough.

Many a time, when things get exceptionally unbearable, I'd look to the heavens asking for an answer and always, I never fail to be surprised by the rainbow that so miraculously appears each time like this, firmly hanging upon the majestic celestial canvas.

Yellow, orange, red, green, blue, indigo, violet.
These 7 colours combine, forming a bridge that seems to be part of Alice in Wonderland, the colours gleaming and sparkling, an invitation to step and walk on it, to the other side of the heavens where things don't seem that grey.

The darkness that block my vision disappear everytime I see the rainbow.

It is a great source of strength and hope, mainly for the covenant it represents.

These days, even when the sun is shining bright or when the night falls, if exhaustion, unhappiness or pessimism should try to form a shroud, all I have to do is close my eyes and summon the rainbow from the memory of my heart.

And remind myself, that every cloud has a silver lining... :)

it's actually a very good book to read and compels me to read on with it's fascinating world of assassinations to win one's love back, glamorous lives of the Super-class, the hopes and sacrifices of struggling actresses in Hollywood, the unbelievable honesty and integrity of a rags to riches haute couture fashion designer, the boredom and superficiality of the ppl who have reached the very top of the pyramid and who live for nothing much else except to find excitement and passion in their lives...

very nicely translated from Portuguese.

i can kinda relate to it in a way, me being in one of the aforementioned industries.

quite philosophical actually, certain phrases the writer wrote. makes one think...

难道我们工作到死为止，都只是为了生存？

那活着到底有什么意义呢？

I have yet to finish the book, am only halfway through but I am happy that I picked this up at the bookstore. I love how the writer makes the reader think about life and certain related issues, though I am very sure, that some characters are actually an allusion to certain ppl in real life... For example the man who 'destroys worlds' in the name of love. I think that the writer is expressing some thoughts about terrorism thru this character, though he says nothing to condemn or condone...

everytime after a whole day's work, I'd come home tired, wishing there'd be home-cooked food in the fridge waiting to be warmed up, or even a bowl of tonic soup...

maybe you guys and girls are privileged enough to have that right now, do cherish it...

it may be only a bowl of soup or even dinner specially set aside but it represents your mum's/dad's love and concern for you.

my attention immediately focused on this particular one where a tutor harassed a family who for firing him/her...

hmm this brings to mind a similar incident yrs ago when I was still studying in NUS.

many undergrads take up tutoring to earn a lil money and I was one of them since I had a lot of free time for the course I took up.

there was this family I remembered very well, for reasons u shall see as u read on...

this mother of 3 whose older son and daughter were in Pri 4 and Pri 1 respectively. Her son was weak in all his subjects and back then there was streaming so it was a very important year for the kid. He was rather quiet and mumbled when he talked, so I had to ask him several times before I can get what he was saying.

The younger gal was alright but jus needed improvement in scores. She was really naughty and always took the lead to distract her brother during the tuition, or be the smart alec and try to talk back.

Now the mother wanted me to tutor both of them at the same time for 2 hrs twice a week and so I did. Payment was in the form of cash

it wasn't that bearable really because they were so easily distracted, I had to repeat myself many times and on top of that they'd start playing with toys!

anyways after tutoring them for 3 mths, suddenly when I arrived as usual on time in front of their apt, try as I might but no one answered the door. It was futile waiting around as I waited like 2 hrs like a fool, when I could hv headed home to study.

u know wat? that day was supposed to be payment time. And of cos by nightfall I knew what this meant.

The next night I came by again but again no one answered the door.

I called her on the mobile but no one picked up, either that or it was directed to voice mail.

I was really upset and angry that someone would cheat me like that. If she wanted to stop the tuition, she could jolly well face me and say it! but hey she owed me one and a half mth's wages!

I can understand the haraasment the mother felt in the newspaper article but I have to say that sometimes, I wouldnt hear from just one side of the story.

:( hahah , raking all this up brought out my anger too hahah, forgive already but still can't forget! :P

nvm, i'll forget it jus as quickly after a gd night's sleep :)

Dun be mistaken, I'm not trying to follow the footsteps of the famed Taiwanese host-celeb with great assets 瑶瑶， who came to our shores just last year to hold an event where anyone can hug her for free hehe...

I was walking along MyeongDong, the 'Orchard Road' of Seoul during Christmas night when I saw this group of young girls and guys holding placards, see the pic below... This, of cos sparked the curiosity of many passersby, including me. I really wanted to go up and hug one of them hahah but me shy la, so walked away, head still turning back to look at them in wonder...

I heard this 'free hugs' thing started from America, and now even the Koreans are doing it.

It really seemed fun cos there were lots of girls who walked up to hug _those guys_ that were quite cute, and I witnessed those girls shrieking with a mix of embarassment and GLEE after the hugs... In other words, SHIOK la... haha, it was quite a funny sight..

In the end I didnt want to miss out on the fun, so when I passed by the same street for the 2nd time, I aimed for a cute girl to hug hhaha, but she was too shy to show her whole face when we took this group shot...! Too bad for u! :p

神奇 Amazing

昨晚特早睡，但不知怎么的，就是睡不好。
作完梦后迷迷糊糊的又醒来了，醒来了想趁睡意还在，再抱头大睡，却又被个失眠的好友发的简讯吵起。

就这样，我睡不下了。

只好拉着还在熟睡的身躯，在床上坐着。
心想：既然醒来了，在这凌晨3点多钟该做什么呢？
想了片刻，开了电灯，便走到书桌哪儿。
眼睛快速扫了扫桌面，诶。。。

一本有着红色还有紫蓝色外套的书。

那是4、5年前买的。

虽然我买了没好好读，也没好好的保管，但好奇怪嘞，它怎么还是象本新买来的书啊？

所以我拿起那本书随便翻了翻。

有一页钩起了我兴趣：A Slap on the Hand.

作者讲述了他在美国某个专门收养街上溜达，没父母，无家可归的青少年的教会里遇到的一个少年，如何在信了主之后，成功的以阿爸父的帮助戒烟。

那少年信主后一直想把抽烟这个坏习惯戒了，但偻试不果。
他只好诚心祈求神的帮助，他祈祷天父能帮帮他，因为他要以自己有限的能力是不可能办到的。

隔天晚上，这少年的烟瘾又来了。
他走到一个无人的小巷，从口袋里的那包香烟取出了一根，正想拿打火机的时候，突然他感觉一个巨大无比的手在他那拿着根烟的手背拍了一下。

那根烟掉落在地上。

他察看四处，一个人影也没有。
少年心里很清楚，那巨大的手，是他阿爸父的。
在那无人的小巷里，他感动、激动的哭了。

少年深深领悟到，拍手背的这个动作，是神深爱他的证据。

从此，他真的一根烟也不占。

那一刹那，我什么都不怕。
这时，我的眼泪是半喜半优的。

喜，是因为我知道那手是谁的。

This is the hotel breakfast on my 1st day in Jeju Island... you can see there's this whole stack of seaweed, heheh. That's cos I love eating seaweed!! That's why I took a lot but not enough to showcase the Sinaporean's Kiasu trait. (actually, the people in other countries can be worse, from what I observe, so Kiasu-ism may not be a specific Singaporen trait :))

The fried fish was also a nice accompaniment to the sticky, almost glutinous porridge. It was altogether a simple meal but the freshness of seafood goodness was unbeatable! FYI, Jeju people dally mostly in the seafood business and tourism also brings in a lot income for its people.

And of cos, there's the kimchi that is a staple in every meal the Koreans have.

The kimchi in every restaurant differs in taste according to how long they have aged it and the other special ingredients they may have added in the process of making it... I prefer the batches that are not aged too long though, cos those that have been put away for a long time have a certain musty taste to it.

MMmm, jus looking at this pic, I can recall vividly the taste of the brekkie that morning, sitting in the hotel cafe with a view of the sea thru the glass window...

1st look at Korea trip

This is the view from my hotel in Jeju-do... This pic's taken from the lift and my room faces the sea.. The wind was huge, even at night I can hear the whooo, woooo wooo sound of the wind blowing into my window. When I arrived, the temperature was about 1˚C and below. So cold! it was made worse by the wind blowing constantly. I felt like a dumpling wearing so many layers of winter wear like long johns, wool cardigan and down jacket plus scarf and wool cap to protect the ears. I even wore 2 layers of mittens!

The waves was huge and when I looked at it, I couldnt help but think of tsunami... *shudders*

I give thanks for everyone who has been giving me support and concern and will try to post more often, however i get so caught up with work that I rarely have time to write much...

the topics i wish to write on do require several hours of intensive writing which, is not quite the way I'd like to relax after work :P haha

been rather tensed lately, I miss cooking and whipping up stuff and sleeping at home... hopefully will have more time to do those in the near future, rather than getting upset over certain stuff that I have no control over :)

studio filming ends today

The studio set for "together' is simply gorgeous and I already feel at home in my family room! :)

And when 'my family' gets together we do feellike a family... There's Dad (Ye Shipin), Mom (Hong Huifang), Gor Gor (Elvin Ng) and Me... then there's also Ah ma, who's kinda deaf in the series so we have to shout when we speak to her...

waiting for a chance for the family to get together so that I can take a 'family' photo :) haha...

Anyway, studio filming ends today so that means filming in Msia will commence soon... Huifang Jie says she's looking forward to that, as for me, I'm keeping my fingers crossed!

Been filming the past 2 weeks continuously for Together and it's been really enjoyable waorking on the set with Elvin and Yangtian once again... the new additions, Kola Zhou and Zhang Zhenhuan are nice to work with too...

While waiting between scenes, I can feel a sort of chemistry rising between us, like we've worked out a certain connection each other. I think that is good, cos that means we will use real feelings for each other when the camera rolls...

Anticipating the end result, even though filmings only commenced for a few weeks :)

I've a friend who's flown to San Franscisco for 2 weeks for work. And my friend said that there's this quaint little cafe there that serves nice breakfast, and they even have this function on the web where you can look in on the crowd at the cafe to decide whether you wanna go there during the heavy lunch hour crowd.

I surfed their website and was really fascinated by the choices of food they serve, quite simple fare but sounds so yummy; and less fattening. Hahahah... Their lunch menu sounds really yummy--> cafe817

Then again, I suppose I can whip up something similar myself using stuffs from the supermarket~!

French Beans and Snow Peas Salad

Had a gathering at a friend's place last night and I made a nice green salad for the girls.

I love the sweetness of the snow peas and the crunchiness of the french beans...

Ta-dah! Nice?? hehe...

Blur me forgot to bring the bottle of perfect sauce to compliment the salad, so bought a can of Tuna instead. Tastes jus as good!

Quite easy to make actually...

Jus boil the beans and peas in a pot of water for 5 mins, drain the water, cool in cold water for a min, drain water again and pour whatever yummy sauce you like over... The veg is just scrumptious!!!

The other day I was just strolling along in town, enjoying the rare cool crisp air after a night of heavy rain. It was after a press conference for the Chinese Drama "My Buddy" and I was wearing this black half sleeved jacket with a horizontally striped grey-green off-shoulder top and black skinny jeans. Surprisingly I didn't feel that hot despite the layers I donned.

So I went for ice-cream and decided it would be nice to stroll along Orchard road, people watching as I eat it. I chose 2 flavours-- a green apple one and an orange/passionfruit flavour. Strangely, I had my attention focused on my cuppa ices so much that I forgot all about people watching...

Both flavours were mildly sourish and sweet and what went thru my mind as the ices melted on my tongue is that pehaps life is like a tub of ices with these flavours.

Maybe we're all meant to taste that bitterness and hard part of life before the sweet fruitful part comes?

I dunno if that is true but it does seem to be like that for me so far...

For some people nothing in life comes that easy and they might have to give 100% or maybe even more that that, jus to reach the sweet final spot... And even then, who knows what other roads are behind that spot?

That final spot, may not be final, after all...

兴高采列地想从一本recipe book做一份美味可口的 strawberry ice cream, 却手忙脚乱到忘记 follow 里面写的一个很 important 的 step! So my ice cream turned out to have frozen butter bits.

但是卖相还不错吧? hehe... 味道也蛮爽囗的哦!

Not a huge success this time round but will surely improve on it during my next attempt! :)

Anyways having a love for cooking doesn't mean I'll cook every time, or everyday because I'll be super busy with an upcoming project featuring Zheng Geping, Aileen Tan, Carole Lin, Ng Hui & Christopher Lee, starting this weekend... I'll try to update as much as I can, ya!

今天心血来潮自己动手做了ice-cream@ home. 真爽!!
hmm, actually, making it wasn't that hard or fantastic, but eating it sure was shiok! Ha ha...

I had a very fantastic gift recently , it's a ice-cream maker that helps freeze the custard you make into semi solid ice-cream you can lick into!! =)

I bought lots of fruits today but finally decided to make rich creamy avocado ice-cream. It tasted fantastic as a custard but I didn't know how it'd be as an iced dessert.

Below, you can see the glorious rich creamy green colour of the avocado. Doesn't it just look yummy? While churning, I couldn't resist sticking my finger into the cold avocado cream & licking whatever's stuck on it when I take it out. I'll try something with alcohol the next time I make ice-cream, do come back & see what I've made!! =P

Nonya has ended...

do you have Little Nonya Withdrawal Syndrome? Hehe...
some frens tell me they do miss rushing home after work and turning couch potato for at least 1 hr every weekday night jus to catch this drama... !!!

well i personally was attached to my TV set too for those 30 days

Not because I wanna watch my own performance lah, but to see the whole complete production. I know roughly how my scenes were gonna be like but have no idea how the other scenes would be like, and when I started watching I became totally hooked!

I love the lighting which totally puts the tv viewers into that 50s era in a flash and the many eye catching details of the set, costumes and background.

I suppose many of u have your own fave Little Nonya characters in your hearts right?

I do too!!

My Fave is Uncle ChengSheng (played by Piere Png.

TOtally think his acting rocks, hehe and could see the improvement in his Mandarin (compared to those days when we acted in Shining Stars)!! And I love it when he goes 'tri la li lala baba, tri la li lala nonya...'

This is truly a good drama whom many people have put their efforts into, kudos to the ppl behind the scenes especially!! This project took months n months to prepare!! :D Cheers, to the entire crew!

whether you came to 'beo' the poor thing Yuzhu, or to see if Charlie Zhang & Huang Zhenzhu are really that evil, or to see if poor Yueniang & Chen Xi will be together, we'd like to thank you all for your support for the show... the turnout was AMAZING!

When we left and arrived, all 4 floors of the mall were occupied, even the escalators were turned off because people were standing on them to see the Little Nonya roadshow. It was overwhelming; I mean, I knew the ratings for the show is very high but I didnt expect that it would draw soooo many people to the roadshow!! :)

Yummy Peranakan FOOD!!

after watching Little Nonya, do you get tempted by the array of peranakan dishes on the table when we had tok panjang (long table feast)? I'm sure the Peranakan restaurants all over the island are experiencing a new flurry of activity in their businesses these days! Hehe...

you know what, once you get started on it, YOU NEVER STOP WANTING TO HAVE IT!!

that's what happened to me!

in the show playing Huang Zhenzhu, I had absolutely no interest in cooking or following whatever Peranakan traditions. However, in real, as Eelyn Kok, I couldn't wait to try making those lovely cuisine myself!!

at 1st I dabbled with the spices myself after filming the scene where i was pounding them furiously. I pounded the spices by hand and after half a day of doing that, besides getting a well toned right arm and my hands dyeda beautiful yellow due to the tumeric, I managed to whip out a decent Chicken Buah Keluak. And man, the taste was jus awesome!

Next I went on to try the Ayam Lemak (chicken curry), Babi Ponteh (pork) and also assam chicken.

I have cravings for Peranakan food every week ever since!! I have also tried a few great Peranakan restaurants... (those interested to try can leave your email, and I'll mail u some reccomendations)

I think the Peranakan women in those days were culinary geniuses in putting different spices together and getting such a savoury, delicate taste to their food!

Zhenzhu in Little Nonya

was finally able to watch this show 2 nights ago, after the busy peak of filming for Dreams Come True came to a slowdown...

frankly, my curiosity was piqued when colleagues arond me started saying how evil i was i the show, and said i slapped Yueniang so many times... Seriously, i cant remember how many times i slapped her!!! That's why I decided to go recap by watching the show! =P

then again, I must admit that initially I was upset when most ppl seemed to concentrate on saying how evil Zhenzhu is; seemed to me that the little touches I added into the role was disregarded and I do feel a lil disappointed...

still, I am thankful, and proud that I did this role. In fact, I think I put in a lot of effort and it came out well. :)

hi all!
i jus came back from Penang where cast n crew of Lil Nonya went to shoot scenes in a local house-like museum.

Really enjoyed the experience and I thot the 2 weeks were gonna be a tough one to go thru... but not really, I enjoyed myself tremendously, finding joy in the hectic schedule n the new, strange environment, without the comforts of home and the familiar...

the 1st 2 days I was there, i was not filming and me and a few other actors skunked around a bit for local flavours n shopping interests hehe... Well, I had to do those 1st, otherwise when filming starts, i'd have no time, right?!

mm really want to upload some photos from my stay in Penang, but my comp has some problems for now... Never mind, i decribe now n upload later :)

actully the 2st 2 days were the only time i had for shopping, later it was jus quick dinners somewhere nearby n return to hotel rm to read script n rest early :)

Still, we enjoyed some local fare, which we got right in front f our doorstep because there was this open hawker area in front of the hotel... I, being the ever greedy one, stuffed myself silly with stewed chicken feet (the best, EVER!), assam laksa, fried kway teow, oyster in fried eggs, curry mee etc etc. So shiok ok. but then the next day me n Pierre had a bit of a stomach ache... ahahah Thank God it didnt affect our performance the next day :)

趁着最近有点空，便追看前阵子让新加坡人风靡的韩剧《咖啡王子一号店》。

主演的是我蛮欣赏的以为女演员－－伊恩惠。

赏赐看了《宫》之后，便开始注意她了，因为超kaypoh想看看她承认曾整过的下巴。。。她肯承认，已让我印象加分了。《宫》也把她拍的可爱、美美的，所以自然对《咖啡王子一号店》有兴趣。

刚看到第7集，我就对这小妹妹的演技越来越赞赏。演的太自然了，该象男生一样粗鲁时，就大口大口的猛吞食物。。。被对她友好感、怀疑自己是同性恋的老板要求包包时，被突如其来的这个举动吓了一跳、又有女生内心小鹿乱撞的羞涩。。。真实让我直呼：棒啊！！

韩剧开始吸引我了。

为什么啊？因为它们节奏虽然有点慢，但就因为这样，人物感情的刻画却足够的空间和时间去表达的更自然、更丰富、更精彩。本来是要做参考、做功课的我，不由自主的被‘高恩璨’， ‘崔汉成’和‘崔汉杰’这几个人物的户动，完完全全的吸引进去了！！

哈哈，有点slow－－全国人都看完了我才来看， but 真的很enjoy feeling the love，confusion，sadness， anger and the disappointment that they feel。

也许在我将来的演出，也可参考韩国演员的演绎方式！；）

Anyway, no spoilers hor!! dun tell me what happens in the end okay? Let me watch and +feel+ for myself ya? hehehe...

昨晚，不，应该是昨天凌晨，睡不着所以心血来潮，亲手缝制了一个手提电话包。原本只是握着几个月前在牛车水购买的不织布料，也不知道要缝什么。突然简讯铃声响了，眼睛瞄到电话，索性连简讯也不回便开始动手穿针线了。

过程花了我4个钟。有点长， but你要知道我从中二就没试过动手制作手工了okay！！其实动脑想点子、搞创意真的很费心思。一直不知道要缝什么图安。结果。。。嘿嘿，制成品就在下面！ cute 吗？？

我可是感到很自豪哦！下次要try making small coin purse或者tote－bag了！！到时，在放上网给大家看咯！＝）

couldnt get to sleep yesterday morning in the wee hours, so decided to spend time sewing my own phone holder. i dun have a sewing machine so everything is handmade.

took me 4 hurs to complete but the process was fun. was a lil rusty doing handicrafts like this cos the last time i sewed anything, was back when i was in secondary school! so i decided to try making something simple and graduate into something bigger next time when i am more adept at this.

quite pleased with the result actually... cant wait to try making a purse or a tote soon!!! :)

Nose mask.

Jus did a nose mask that works superbly pulling out the blackheads and whiteheads on the nose.

Bought it in Taiwan last yr & am running out on it! Urgh! I need to get more!

Anyway, jus wanna record that there is this sweet sensation of victory while enduring the slight pain tearing the dry mask off your skin, that guarantees the removal of irritating blackheads & minimizing the pores ^^ !! Yeah！胜利！！ Woohoo！

hehe, a bit masochistic but SaTiSYing!!!!! Muhahahah... *bleah* V^-^V

Taking pic with my new coming drama's sister and father... Why did I have this funni look? Cos Geping da-ge threw a ball over while we were taking a pic & I didnt see! So the volleyball *boink*, kenna my head lor! =p Then we all got into a laughing fit, as if someone had touched our laughing 穴道。。。

Okay~ then we retake the pic. See, see!! Look at Darren stifling his laughter till he's all tomato red in the face!! =D and see my sheepish look. My sis is pretty professional though, in the pic, still maintaining a wonderful smile whilst me and Dareen cld hardly keep our composure! :p

Aniwaes we were all told to be in beachwear for this event, so we all thot damn long and hard about what beachwear really is. hmmm, wait a min! if i remember correctly, most beachgoers i saw wereeither topless or in bikinis! so, does it mean we had to be the same?

Ah, but dear readers, artistes are artists with an 'e' behind, meaning 'e'xtraordinarily artistic! So we turned up in our individual ideas of what beachwear means to us!

Melbourne Trip Pics!

Melbourne's a very VERY cold place in May till end of July. I had to get used to the cold, cos the temperature could dip suddenly from 12* to 4*C in broad daylight! That's when I truly appreciate the sun; when it comes out, I feel warm and nice all over, able to move about again!

See the thick clothing I wore? Not enuff to keep me warm I tell u...

Lived at my cousin's place in Clayton, in the suburbs of Melbourne during my visit... My 1st day there, i was awed by the vast blue sky u can see because there aren't much high rise buildings blocking it. Everyone can have a piece of land to build their own house and have a lil garden AND garage and etc... That is a dream not many Singaporeans can afford to have cos of the lack of land here...

The Flinders Train Staion, a very prominent landmark in Melb City. From there, u can walk to the many shopping blocks stretched out over the long Swanston Street, where there are also many small streetlets to wander into for more eating and shopping!

St Paul's Cathedral jus opp. Flinders Train Station. An old building with a lot of character. See the finer architecture?

Visited the Art Museum, where aborigines' art pieces from olden days of coloured sap and dyes put on tree barks, depicting ancient rites & rituals & telling stories of birth and death, to modern day abstract canvas pieces using acrylic as medium... Quite an insight into the aborigines' way of life...

Singapore Chomp Chomp in Melbourne?!!! Wahhhhh~~~~~ Nice or not?? I dunno, hehehe, cos I ate somewhere else, a HK style eatery recommended by a friend.

My 1st meal on Melbourne street! Siew Mai & Brinjal Pork Gravy Rice & a nice _warm_ Chinese tea... not too bad!

Melbourne Blues

Hi everyone!

you know how it is that everyone comes back from holidays feeling refreshed and happy and wanting to never come back home again?

Well I just came back from melbourne and it was a horrific vacation...

A series of distressing and unhappy incidents happened that made it so and I have come to appreciate the fine familiarity of home and being amongst my own countrymen as well as being in a country that welcomes people of all kinds & all races.

In the beginning, I had heard so much about Melb from Australian Chinese friends who are currently working here and from my cousin who has migrated there. This piqued my curiosity about the city that was voted one of the most livable cities in the world, and egged on by the travel bug in me, I decided to go there for 11 days right after filming LOVE BLOSSOMS...

Now the 1st wave of unpleasant events was awaiting to happen whilst I was extremely excited about my 1st trip to Australia. Though I have always been terribly afraid of the cold and it was winter, ranging from 4'C to 14'c, in Melb, these did nothing to put out my growing fire and thirst to see the metropolitan city and start my exploration.

!st of all, I took the Quantas airline and being Australian owned, naturally many Australians take it and the crew on board were Austalian Caucasians too. Meals were served promtly and I was pleasantly surprised (since I am quite the glutton) that they kept stuffing us with hi-carbo food thru-out the 5 hr flight on transit at Sydney airport. Then I realised it was because we all have to 'store' reserves (think: camel) of hi energy burning food so that we'd function in the wintry city better. So i ate and ate. However, I had a distinct feeling that this steward and stewardess didnt take to me(i was about the only non-caucasian there). They weren't rude or anything, jus, unfriendly and non smiling.

I was seated at the emergency exit area and this being my 1st time on board that airline, I started daydreaming about Melb the moment I placed my butt on the seat. This particular air stewardess came over and flashed a 'smile' at me and said i had to place my hand luggage in the storage area above the seat. I complied, thinking it could be differences in airlines' modus operandi that other airlines allow passengers to put hand luggage beneath the seats, to which she gave a prompt no before i even finished my query to whether could do that.

To my surprise, as I stood up to place the luggage on the overhead storage area, she walked past the other red-haired lady in the same row on the other side, without giving her the 'reminder' she gave me, even though the passenger very obviously had her bag down beside her feet on the floor.

I told myself, dun be too sensitive, she could've missed out on that other lady during her round of checks before take-off...

However, she came back again not long after, getting the my attention and that of the 2 gentlemen seated in front. She'd like to make sure we understood the list of safety instructions for the emergency exit they'd placed on our seat. The blur me was like, oops, must read ah? She gave me a dirty look, raised her tone a few decibels higher (as if announcing to the entire cabin) and said,'oh, she hasn't even read it!! (looks at the men in front n smiles) I'll be back later then.'

My ears turned beetroot at her sarcastic undertones, which brought a few glances from the passengers from the middle row, and I quickly buried my face into the few lines of safety instructions, wanting to finish it quickly lest I hinder her from her other important duties again. =(

天啊！那不是一个很美的画面吧？！哈哈。。

其实我想说的是，前晚拍《球》的一场激情戏的时候，因为感冒所以拍这场戏时，鼻涕不由自主的往下流。。。害得我担心接吻戏的动作之外，还得频频向助导拿tissue... 天啊，那晚也很担心会把感冒传染给其他的工作人员，或是得被我‘吻’的那位男同事。。。

actually it's very embarrassing to film this kinda scenes and it always gives me a lot of stress... It's hard to kiss someone u dun really know, some more, u have to discard all inhibitions and take the initiative, as specified by the script...

the funnie thing was, one of the magazines brought along as prop for the room, has the gf of my fellow actor on its cover. When he saw that, he mockingly did a double-take and squirmed, "uh oh 惨了，惨了！“ which made all of us laugh...

that wasnt the only funnie thing cos coincidentally, that night, it was disclosed in the chinese tabloids that he had proposed to his famed gf and gotten the nod!! *congratulations man!!*

Hehe... now, can you guess who my fellow actor is? :D

〈球爱大战〉

昨天拍了一场一部关于排球的戏，让我回想起若干年前，我为什么回在中学时期参加排球活动，并且进入了校队。。。

其实，知道公司又开拍一部关于排球的戏，心里是蛮期待的。因为当年的第一部〈－排球？－巅峰〉（请原谅我，我忘了它的剧名）而改变了我的人生。。。＝）

不知道这新一部戏，会有什么惊喜？

〈球〉の主要演员有， jesseca, joanne, jade, dawn 还有铭顺，是一部女人の戏。仔细想想，所有女演员都是高头大马的。哈哈，更让人兴奋的应该是众女演员穿着 bikini 在沙滩 frolicking 的那几场戏吧！！嘿嘿， those gals really put in effort to slim and tone up okay! And i touched, their tummy area la, REALLY flat ah!! But the poor things have to keep watching their diet these 3 mths, and i saw with my own eyes how Jesseca doesnt eat much hi-carbo foods and avoids oily stuff too.. Poor babes..

Aaaah, the price of looking good!! =P

Anyways, that scene i filmed the other day was with Jesseca and Christopher and it brought memories of the previous show we 3 did together the last time, 〈蓝色仙人掌〉。

So fast, been a couple of years in the blink of an eye :)

Wonder when we can act together again in the same drama like this?

Just last Sunday, I was privileged to go be one of the 4 celebrities models for Style's wedding bash... Though it was one of the 4 or 5 times i donned on a wedding dress, it was still very memorable because of the few seconds of romantic, glamourous bride you get to be on the catwalk stage...

Imagine, swishing the long trails of the wedding gown's train, beaming with happiness as if you are the bride... LOVELY!!! :)

Wonderhow many of you liketo eat? And I mean _L_O_V_E_ to eat?

alright, I must confess I'm quite the glutton, so it's quite hard for me to resist mouthwatering cuisines placed in front of me, especially so when i have to warch my diet for filming purposes!

Now aside from eating, I love to whip up some good meals too, however it's quite a hassle if the kitchen isn't quite equipped for all the stir-frying, deep-frying, juicing, sauteing, blanching, steaming, whipping stewing, baking, and hundreds of other processes involved in producing deliciously enticing, restaurant grade dishes!

I've been doing some experiments myself at home in my free time, cooking up a storm and making some of my favorite foods...

Just the other day, I made Mummy's style fried chicken wings and some delectable passionfruit ice cream.

Praise the Lord! Really glad I have that honour to be part of this year's Star Awards.

Filming has ended

My apologies for having MIAed!! was busy with some personal matters and then lately, intensive studio filming for the past 2 n a half weeks...

Finally, filming for ShouZu 2 has finally ended!! Was a little low on morale when i realised I was the only one out of the whole entire cast to do the last few scenes of the entire shoot... :(

But thank God for what He had given me to help me press on for that last lap...

Now I can rest for all I want! =)

There are so many things I want to do now that I have all the time in the world, but 1st I have to rid myself of the residue emotional, mental burden and restore myself from the physical drain that the past 16 days of intensive filming has put on me...

Tis is our master chef for the day! Joyce used to work in a cooking school so she got to learn how to cook, for free!! Of cos I started bombing her with a lot of questions on cooking!!

Farewell to 'Anxin's House'

If you watched Kinship, you'd have observed that the house we used as Anxin's house is a huge bungalow... It's actually somewhere along Holland Road and the owners had kindly lent it to us for filming...

The owners are Mr n Mrs Ong who are unbelieveably down-to-earth, gentle, generous and friendly parents of 2 sons and a daughter-- all grownups (and, sorry, taken!! Haha...). Whenver we filmed in their house, as long as they could, Mrs Ong and the elder Mrs Ong who lived with them, would cook up a feast to feed the 10+ strong crew and artistes.

The food they cook is, WAH!! YUMMY LOR!

But the one and only time I was present when they prepared the feast, I was on a diet, and so had to miss out on it, regretfully! 害我在一旁流口水！ =( however the glutton in me thought, if I can't eat all of it, I shd scoop a minute serving of all of the dishes so I can AT LEAST taste them! & I DID! =P Didn't regret at all! Haha...

Anyway, this time the crew and cast were invited to their farewell party, held in their abode, for they have sold the bungalow and are moving out next mth!

The party was very happening... Had stalls set up serving different cuisines, kong ba bao, slow-roasted spiced lamb, sushi and salmon sashimi, ice kachang, fruits, etc over red carpet rolled out on the lawn. There was free flow of wine and beer too, to the glee of some of us who appreciate a drink or 2 =p

For entertainment, the young 'uns of the family prepared a fashion show of gowns designed and made by a designer friend of the family. The models were really pretty! Everyone stopped eating and talking as soon as they strutted down the red carpet...

Me and Jesseca started talking about which pieces we like... She had her eye on this pink one with swarovski crystals for straps and long chiffon ribbon behind at the back whereas I liked the 2-toned green chiffon piece with a wide V-neckline and lovely flowing frills over the hips that spreads open down to show the legs... Very feminine dresses I must say...

I think I'll miss the swimming pool most; that's where I had a few swim scenes alone and one with Elvin Ng. And also, it was for the swim scenes in it that I had to go on a torturing diet for MONTHS last season!!!! =P But then that is also the pool where I 1st found out that I could tread water n swim (in deep end pool)!!!

MMmm most of all, I'll miss the warmness of the hosts and the food! hehe...

I was so happy to hear the good news...

所以要拍的一场戏cancel了！！

最近的天气真的阴晴不定，让我们很难把排期的外景拍完。。。＝｜

今天拍的是玉生和英俊结婚的戏，哈哈，可惜我那场戏删掉了，不然会拍下他们穿这礼服与婚纱的照片和你们分享！！

七月の台湾之旅

七月：经过四个月，为《手足》紧锣密鼓的拍摄后，终于有一个月的大假了！嘿嘿，还不趁这时候到国外旅游，好吃好住的宠一宠自己？！

哼～要去哪儿好呢？
香港？去年七月和一般朋友去‘瞎拼’过了啦！
泰国？都去过三、四次了，有点厌了。。。
澳洲墨尔本？堂姐说那里现在冬季，下雪呢！我最怕冷了！！No, no, no~ Thank yew!!

Ah.. I wanna go some place new, that I've never been to before and where I can shop till I drop and YET, still not be too bothered by the weather... Like that how? Where can I go?

Hehe, 其实早在三月、四月还没收工时，我和Jesseca 便聊到彼此很想去，但至今还没有机会去的国家。I mentioned Taiwan, because all along I've been curious about how it looks like, whether the girls are as 'deh' as ppl say they are, etc etc... Then she said she's been there before and suggested going there together in June. So we agreed upon it and I left the arrangements to her...

When I set foot in Taiwan, tears filled the brim of my eyes...

I recalled that I had made a promise when she was severely ill many years ago, to bring her to Taiwan. But she passed away before I could fulfil my promise and this gesture of filial piety... 没想到我这次来台湾，竟然无法完成我对她的诺言。这是我人生一大遗憾。。。

But I told myself that I would 尽情地玩、玩到疯 on her behalf, and I prayed to God to let my mum in Heaven with Him know that I miss her even when playing hard during this trip...

I know she knows :)

But anyway! Here's some pics from the trip!! :D

士林夜市是非常有名的旅游地点，很多外地、本地人都会来这里大扫货！也难怪，因为这里卖的东西都是蛮特别、价格又是蛮公道的时尚服饰。。。有得吃，有得看，有的买，赞！！

Kinship II Filming

It was a rainy day while filming for SHOUZU today, I was filming a scene where I meet Martin in a park (not for casual chit-chat nor pak-toh-ing okie) to talk about who this new guy helping Yingjun with lots of funds to revive 大迎家 is.

But then rain droplets came and seeing the sky's overcast with dark clouds, the director decided to halt shooting. Besides the camera equipment are the 宝贝s that cannot be drenched! Expensive machines u know! SO we ran to seek shelter in this porch which was big enough [thank God] for all 12 of us plus the loads of equipment!

The crew, 炯耀 and 汶祥 chatting while waiting for the rain to stop... The one in white T-shirt with a red rectangle print is Lau, our camera head for the day. See the magazine at the corner? The one with least lines for this scene was so relaxed so she jus passed time flipping magazine lor! You wanna know who that is? Jesseca lor!

I was still reading my script in case the rain stops and we have to quickly standby for shoot given that some time has been wasted waiting for the rain to stop. The highlighted ones are my lines and the circles and lines are my homework hehe... =p btw, this is considered the least of my lines in all of my 手足 scripts! Show u guys the scenes where there's chunks of lines next time!

Curious how our makeup pouches look like and what it contains? Here's all the stuff (okay maybe not ALL) needed for my filming and touchups... There's blotter, eyedrops for when my eyes are too dry to emote, blusher, loose powder, brown eye shadow and brown blusher which I use for shading, concealer, eyelash curler [extremely important to have eyes that can 电人！！哈哈。。], lipgloss, tissue etc...

Had a photoshoot this morning under David Gan's invitation for his monthly 'column' in the NuYou Mag!

David: "Eh this one not bad hor...?"

The photographer Veronica, David and Agnes looking through the pictures taken and choosing which 2 to use for the spread...

David: "mmm, this one also not bad lah..."

Agnes the makeup artist, Me the artiste, and David the hair guru and stylist! Clothes are from DKNY, very girly yet feminine with an edge!

I'm really pleased with this image and the photoshoot this time round, maybe cos the overall look is in sync with how I see myself! ;)

last sat night in a club, at the farewell party of a fren who's going to Europe for 2 yrs on a 'Sabbath' of sorts.

Man, maybe it's the divine warning for me not to step into a club-- I havent set foot in one for a long long time, and the very 1stnight I did, I lost my lovely Samsung phone!

This is the one I lost. Though it was a gift last Christmas from a friend but I grew to love it's slimness-- like, being able to slip it into the back pocket of my jeans without any distortion to the view of my rear =p Haha.

Surprisingly I wasn't too sad at the loss, cos deep down, I knew that it was a blessing from God and I am only a steward taking charge of it. Probably God has decided to put it in someone else's charge. :)

An acquiantance was surprised to see me so cheerful despite the loss and I explained that it's jus a material possession that we can't bring along with us when we pass on anyway...

I thank God for the peace He put in my heart =)
and for the phone that has served me well =)

号外、号外！！让我充当狗仔队，为大家偷拍－－芷绚和俊雄戏假情真，拍拖到户外？！｛哈哈，假的啦！两人一听说我要充当狗仔队，便很合作的摆‘噗嘶’i.e. pose 起来啦！！｝

你们看，俊雄戏里戏外都很有艳福hor--左拥右抱的。。。
其实，水灵、英俊和玉生在戏外相处的还不错哦！

戏里是情敌，但戏外绝对是好朋友！；）

Having half a day off filming so that we could attend the Kinship Roadshow in Bugis Junction, we were all so relaxed that all agreed to go for high-tea and a japanese dinner thereafter. The other artistes slipped away so fast after the roadshow before we even had a chance to ask them out...

As soon as we sat down in the ice-cream palour, ALL of us started whipping our our mobile phones to take picture with each other and bluetoothing pictures to everyone around!! Haha...

It looks as though we are really one big happy family, doesn't it!

Shuiling Isn't Eelyn

Quite disappointed recently when some viewers posted some nasty comments on the mediacorp Shouzu forum on the character Lynn (Shuiling), who for the sake of a better life, gave up her real love to be with an older man who can, in her own eyes, protect her, take care of her and her needs better...

Yes she is to an extent rather materialistic, I must admit.

However I feel that certain viewers have linked this role's personality to mine and that saddens me a lot.

I mean, they do not even know me but they judge me by the role I am playing, and frankly, presently they hate the character so much, these viewers fail to stop and think for a moment if Eelyn's acting is convincing enough.

It's really disappointing to know that my efforts put in for the last 4 months of the Shouzu shoot have not been recognized...

However, I'm very thankful for the small bunch of audience who called Wanbao's Hotline to put in their comments on my acting. At least I know that my hard works have not gone unnoticed by some... {Praise God}

It's truly like what ppl say ba, you can't please all...

Cast Meeting for 《手足II》

Yesterday, there was a cast meeting for all involved in《手足II》.

Was good to see the directors, APs, and fellow actors after 3 weeks of break! Strange but am starting to them all!! Okie, maybe it was because those days of hectic filming forced us to bond with the others and you do grow closer having spent almost 4 mths (120 days) together.

There was a huge pile of freshly printed scripts, all warm and smooth to the touch waiting to be taken and brought home... Fwah~! Dunno whether to be excited or wad, but my head kept thinking of the chunks of lines I had in season 1 and I shuddered involuntarily... Haha ;p

This time round, there's not gonna be much change in most of our looks since the time lapse between season 1 and 2 will only be a few months. However there's gonna be a lot of surprises in the plot and some twists as well, which most of u will not expect! So watch out for it!! :)

Okay la, I better go start reading my script already!! =P hehe.

《手足》の鸳鸯浴

哈哈，这句话应该是水灵看到英俊和玉生鸳鸯浴的时候，心里在想的话吧！！

On a serious note, I was watching Jesseca and Elvin do the scene in the bathtub and it really isn't as easy as it looks onscreen! It took a couple of hours in fact!

The two main leads quite poor thing la, although the whole scene was supposed to be only a few seconds on tv, it took a long time to finish the filming due to many factors. Hopwever they were all very professional. Despite having to withstand the cold filming in an air-con studio, there's also the initially warm water our propsman kindly used to put in the tub, which gradually, as more and more NGs occurred, turned colder by the minute.

Poor Jesseca emerged cold and shivering from the tub with wrinkly skin all over, her fingers being the hardest hit, after the best outta all shots had been captured.

Next, will post 独家照 of some pictures taken during an outing after the 手足roadshow! :D

Yes yes! My new blog is up and running, contents will span from day-to-day work stuff, filming progress, mediatalk as well as my thoughts on being an actress..!

Next up will be my thoughts on the drama I've just done, called 《手足》, which is currently showing on channel 8 @ 7pm on weekdays! Keep in tune~ =P
